Simple..It is What It is..

It is what it is.. Accept it

At the end of The Unforgiven, Gene Hackman laments to Clint Eastwood, “I don’t deserve this—to die like this.” Eastwood’s classic response: “Deserve’s got nothing to do with it.”

The same can be said for the way we look,
the way we live our lives,
the way we are treated by others,
the money we’re born into/not born into,
the talents we have/don’t have…
Life is unconcerned with “deserve”..!!

Life is… what life is.

You know, I see people fighting this reality at every turn, and the results of the struggle are ugly. You don’t believe me? Just try to consider the people you know in a professional context: do you know someone…(below?)

  • Not getting the job because s/he is too proud to ask for help? (”I deserve the job that I can find by my own!”)
  • Limiting his/her career by refusing to engage in politics? (”I shouldn’t have to play games!”)
  • Walking into a crisis by refusing to mitigate foreseeable risks? (”People are supposed to follow directions, so that won’t be a problem!”)
  •

Deserve..?? Should..?? Supposed to..??

As far as I am concerned, to be both successful and happy, the only prerequisite is to accept what is. Plans made on the basis of what should be are doomed to fail. Judgment—in the form of phrases like “deserve,” “supposed to,” “should be,” and the granddaddy of them all, “if only,”— is nothing but a heart breaker. Plans based on what is, on the other hand, work.

6 “Dosa” Pembunuh Karir

careers & jobs

Walk the Path You Choose, Not Someone Else’s

The Path

Recently, I got training about Self Development, you know, about Life path or something like that. I’ve noticed, the whole concept is the same. At least, almost same as my principle towards life.. Well, I guess, I just want to share it. I hope it’s useful, especially for me.. 🙂

Admit or not, We are a product of our environment. It is true that we are shaped by environment, our parents, teachers, and friends. The question is, can we break from this conditioning or is it permanent?

Below is a few things so we can walk the path that we choose, not just follow others..

1) Plan The Path

One of the greatest methods to walk your Path is to plan that Path. People who seem destined to walk a Path set by someone else, do so because they fail to think outside the box they have been put in. They accept the Path placed before them and never question or envision it any differently. Those who break free, see the vision of their dreams and desires, not as some fairytale, but as something that can be achieved, something to make plans toward.

Do you walk a life of no planning, or do you walk the Path you choose?
Do you see your dreams as attainable, and work toward them, or mere fantasies?

My Movie Collection : A Beautiful Mind

A Beautiful Mind

My Rating : 9.9 / 10
Genre : Biography, Drama
Plot Keywords : Nobel Prize, Based on True Story
More Info : here at IMDB

1) MASTERPIECE MOVIE

A Beautiful Mind was by far the most original, intelligent and entertaining movie I have ever seen. I have seen a lot of movies in my time, but this movie just took me by storm. Its uniqueness, ironically enough because it was based on a real life situation.

This movie provided a brilliant (pardon the pun) insight into many aspects of a genius at work. And, I think, this movie is by far one of the most compelling movies of our generation. It’s really more than deserved to be included on my collection list. 🙂

It touched me on many levels. The psychology of the movie was intriguing, the mathematical philosophies was realistic, and the icing on the cake making the movie stand out was surprisingly the humanistic side of Love. While love is a common basis in most movies, the interaction of this theme with other aspects of the plot was planned phenomenally.

Goo Goo Dolls – Let Love In

Goo Goo Dolls Let Love In

John Rzeznik as we know,
or at least myself, know that he is a lyrical genius..
What he feels, what he has been through,

what he expresses, is what We have all been through..

The writing here is great,
with a lot of hopefulness
to counteract the underlying sadness..

Emotional and poetic, but at the same time,
it’s quite predictable and safe..
Just like when you felt, you know,
Everything means more now than words can explain..”
This is just my opinion..

Well, if you watch Serial TV – Chuck,
then you’ll know this video, see below.
The video was taken from Chuck & Sarah,

at Eps 1.04 Chuck vs The Wookie..
Hope you Enjoy it..

Why Do Women Love Mechanical Engineer..??

Mechanical Engineer

I’ve got this article from facebook Mechanical Engineer group..
It’s so great and so true…But, It’s just for fun, okay..!!

Why Do Women Love Mechanical Engineer..??
Because :
1. The world does revolve around us… We choose the coordinate system..
2. No “couple” enjoy a better “moment”..
3. We know how to handle stress and strain in a relationship..
4. We have significant figures..
5. We understand the motion of rigid bodies..
6. Projectile motion: Do we need to say more..??
7. Engineers do it to specification..
8. According to Newton, if 2 bodies interact, forces are equal and opposite
9. It’s not the length of the vector that counts, but how We apply the force..
10. And, WE KNOW THE RIGHT HAND RULE..!!

wuakakakwkakwk…

“Bahasa” Kantor..

Office Talk

In case you don’t know by now… (buat ketawa2 aja, he3)..

ASAP
Singkatan dari As Soon As Possible, biasanya dipakai oleh atasan yang minta laporan dari bawahannya. Paling males dapet email yang subjectnya ASAP pake huruf gede. Biasanya laporan ini sifatnya dadakan bgt. Celakanya, bagi bawahan, laporan inilah yg biasanya paling lama dicuekin, alias gak diduga2 kalo sewaktu2 bos minta, walhasil..JEBRET! Lembur sampe pagi!

TENTATIVE

Betapa susahnya kalo sang Owner mo sarapan bubur?

AFTER LUNCH
Untuk menunjukan waktu yang HARUSnya jam 1 siang, tapi biasanya kalimat ini dipakai kalo janjian dengan level sesama manager atau diatasnya. Kalau masih janjian sesama staff or supervisor mah simple aja “Abis makan deh” atau “Makan dolo bro, baru kita sambung”.. Note : Setinggi2nya level anda, jangan sampai bilang “Makan dolo bro” ke Owner.

OVERTIME
Bahasa Indonesianya Lembur. Tapi somehow, overtime lebih keren. Soalnya kalo lembur kayak OB & Driver…

Chasing Dreams – OJT (On the Job Training) to Dumai

Flying to chase the dream

Thank God, you gave me an exciting opportunity…
Yeah, I believe, I got this job, only because of God…
Because, as Mechanical Piping Engineer,
What do I know about piping..???Only a basic, to be honest…

I’m a fresh graduate, and need to learn a lot,
take time to adapt in my new environment, or something like that…
But, in the company that I’m working now,
they want to involve me to go to the field, directly…

My Project Manager wants me to go to the field with a few Senior Mechanical Piping Engineer..
It’s for L-Project.. LBO plant of Pertamina in Dumai..
It’s impossible to say “no”, of course…
So, I will go to Dumai, ’till end of this month (April 2009)…
Wow, it’s really really exciting…

Maybe it’ll be hard because it’s my first experienced to work in a field,
but I really felt thankful for this opportunity…
An opportunity where I could learn a lot, gained my knowledge, and sharpen my engineer’s sense…

Yeah, I know “there is a first time for everything”…
And, This is a “first time” for everything that related with my career life,
This is a “first time” that I have to leave my comfortable “zone”…
and I hope it’ll give a great impact for my self-development..
Also, I hope, It will “open” a lot of opportunity that God will offer to me in the future…

Wow, what can I say…???
It’s time to chase my dream, time to act as a grown-man,
time to live in real life, and be more responsible…

Thank God.. It’s only from You….
Just after I was really wondering where my future and so afraid,
You suddenly give me this unexpected opportunity…
You really “train” me in “a different” way from other people…

ALHAMDULILLAH…

Dumai, here I come….

Interview : Your Biggest Weakness?

Job interview

You know I’ve been unemployed for several months after The Graduation.
I had a lot of interview to attend, and also lot of fail, it sucks actually..
And, to be honest, this is the toughest question for me..
That’s why, I really want to write about it..I hope it’s useful for you…

It’s the question job applicants fear most:
“So tell me,” says the smiling interviewer, “what’s your biggest weakness?”

If you think a good answer is you’re “a perfectionist who won’t quit until the job’s done right,” think again. The interviewer has probably heard the same thing from countless other applicants and doesn’t believe it’s a weakness any more than you do.

According to Vicky Oliver, author of 301 Smart Answers to Tough Interview Questions, the worst thing you can do is give your interviewer a “canned” answer, such as saying you are a workaholic.

Applicants who give such a typical answer may be perceived as dishonest or unoriginal. The interviewer is likely to say,
“That sounds like a strength to me. What’s another weakness you have?”

Oliver is one of 40 career experts and hiring managers and, here’s a summary of their advice:

Serial TV : Heroes (3rd Season Vol.4)

heroes TV

My Rating (for current season) : 9.0 / 10
More Info: here

As far as I believe, everybody must know this Serial TV…
Just like everybody know about Superman, Star Wars, Harry Potter, etc..
So, I don’t want to explain much about the character, or introduction “stuff”..

Yeah, you know, this serial TV is My All-Time Favorite..
Yup, All-Time Favorite..The Number One…!!!

Heroes, the show that came out of nowhere has gained huge popularity on NBC based on a comic book-style narration… even with non-geeks. It’s better than any other action/drama TV series (past and present), and is better than any movie series (even those based on comic books) will be..

First Development

Heroes began development during pilot season in 2006, when Tim Kring, came up with the show’s concept. Kring wanted to create a “large ensemble saga” that would connect with the audience. He began thinking about how big, scary and complicated he felt the world is, and wanted to create a character-driven series about people who could do something about it.

Kring felt that a cop, medical, or Lost-type drama did not have characters that were big enough to save the world. He came up with the thought of superheroes, ordinary people who would discover extraordinary abilities, while still rooted in the real world and in reality.
