Oasis – Little by Little

“We sow our thoughts, and We reap our actions;
We sow our actions, and We reap our habits;
We sow our habits, and We reap our character;
We sow our character, and We reap our destiny.”

“Little by Little” was perhaps the most controversial Oasis’s song, receiving mixed reviews from those who felt it was a classic example of an upbeat Oasis anthem and those who felt it was a twee, patronising, sycophantic melody. Regardless of this, I can feel this song is pure poetry… the lyrics is amazing, indeed.

I like to listen this song, because it remind me that any goals can be achieved in life always start with small steps, making a step of progress little by little, all things that I wanted will come slowly but sure. There is no quick fix nor “instant” in life. And while this may at first seem daunting, the beautiful fact is that it is in small habits, small action, that I partake in every day consistently that will create the life I want.

We all like the idea of being able to make big, sweeping, massive changes in a short period of time. A lot of us have found that does not always end up being the way that things happen and sometimes it’s not even all that practical to expect that. Because oftentimes in life, there is a process that must play-out in sequence before things happen. We learn things, we grow, we are challenged through process, and all that, slowly but sure, little by little, the result will come eventually.

You see, the truly grand things in life will always require hard work, focus and patience. All aspects in our lives that matter most to us – our relationships, our financial security, our peace of mind, and a healthy grasp on the meaning of life, I can’t help but realize, that each require time & genuine discipline to make those things become real success.

This song “Little by Little” helps me to gain the right perspective of life, so I can have right guidelines for making decisions, and help me to be able to navigate through the storms & uncertainties that life brings. And as long as I keep smiling and moving forward, the road ahead is going to be far better than I can imagine. Sometimes, the best thing that can possibly happen to me in the long run, is not getting exactly what I want right now… But eventually, through all its twists and turns, it will come…

Goo Goo Dolls – Feel The Silence

In the end, we only regret the chances we didn’t take,
Relationships we were afraid to have,
and decision we waited too long to make..
As the saying goes, silence is often the loudest cry…

Well, I used to hear this song during late at night. It has so much meaning and depth. Sometimesn, It just feels like this song’s written for me. I know it isn’t, but having it feel that way is what music’s supposed to do to you, right?

The first time I heard this song it hit me like brick wall. It’s the kind of song that make me thinking about life in general. This song makes me feel like I’m apart of something a lot bigger than myself and my own problems.

I think this song is about dealing with someone who he really care about. He wants to help this person and become part of her world. She may be struggling with something. Maybe her life is hard, or she’s going through a hard time.

Even though he thinks he may know a great deal about her, he can’t help her. He only know that something is wrong, yet he can’t reach her. He feels like she hasn’t told him everything, that there is so much more to her life that she hasnt’ shared with him yet (positive or negative things).

And he’s trying so hard to let her trust him. But, she just won’t completely let her guard down for some reason. And no matter how much he would like to help, she can’t seem to let him in.

And after a while of being persistent, he come to realize that she will tellhim in her own time when she is ready … Because, sometimes what a person needs most is a hand to hold and a heart to understand, right? It’s really quite sad, but true. It happens…

Yup, hope you enjoy the song…

Dan Hill – Sometimes When We Touch

And who am I to judge you on what you say or do?
I’m only just beginning to see the real you..
I’m just another writer still trapped within my truth
A hesitant prize fighter still trapped within my youth..

It’s September already. And well, soon, my age will be a quarter-century old. For sure, “this subject” is becoming more and more appear to the surface on my life. I’ve listened this song for quite a while, mainly because how much it’s related with me, especially for now. The lyrics, melody, & its harmony speak for itself, and really touches me, deeply.

For me, this song it’s not about “romantic-girlie song”. When I’m really listened to it, understand the lyrics, words & meaning behind the song, then I can see why many people actually played this song at their wedding.

For me, this song is about a man that struggling with his feelings for a woman.  He faced a moral battle between his heart & his mind. He has deep, truthful & hidden love that wants to be shared, felt, & received.

On one hand, he wants to say he loves her but he knows that he’s not yet able to give her “a secure life”, that could hurt her someday. At times, he thinks they can be just friends, while prepare everything to make her “a luckiest woman”, even that romantic feelings flares when they met. He just wants to be responsible for his feelings but still he’s afraid & confused, and yet he wish to be with her forever.

The song meaning is deep, gentle and honest for me. I don’t know, maybe in love & life itself, there’s so many things that have to not go right, before we get it right.

Five For Fighting – The Riddle

There are secrets that we still have left to find,
There have been mysteries from the beginning of time,
There are answers we’re not wise enough to see…

Well, you know I’m a big fan for this band, right? Yep, Five For Fighting is my all time favorite band. Mainly, because their song usually speak about deep things on life that usually cannot meet the eye. Beside, most of their lyrics are really reflect life in general.

“The Riddle”, from the “Two Light” 2006 album, is my “everyday” song. It’s like “the theme” song of my life. Because I can really “connect” with the meaning that is presented. It’s talking about the riddle that I found in my daily life. It also speak about “The Riddle” about my future because we don’t know what future holds, right?

It also “the reminder” for me about what I’ve done so far. I understand that, lots of thing that I have yet to learn, to be more wise towards what happened because there are answer we’re not wise enough to see, and at some point I realized how that I am so “naïve” to face the obstacle that life throw at me.

Then, for sure there is “dialogue” between father & son on the song. The simple & “innocent” question from the kid to his Dad, but really have deep meaning.

“Dad, I’m big but we’re smaller than small,
In the scheme of things, well we’re nothing at all..
And Hey Dad, here’s a riddle for you, find the Answer
There’s a reason for the world, You and I…

I said, “Son for all I’ve told you,
When you get right down to the reason for the world,
Who am I?”

Opick – Rapuh

Detik waktu terus berjalan,
Berhias gelap dan terang..

Suka dan duka, tangis dan tawa,
Tergores bagai lukisan..

Seribu mimpi, berjuta sepi,
Hadir bagai teman sejati..

Di antara lelahnya jiwa,
dalam resah dan air mata,

Ku persembahkan kepadaMu
Yang terindah dalam hidupku..

Meski ku rapuh dalam langkah
Kadang tak setia kepadaMu
Namun cinta dalam jiwa
Hanyalah pada-Mu

Maafkanlah bila hati
tak sempurna mencintai-Mu
Dalam dadaku harap
hanya diri-Mu yang bertahta..

Detik waktu terus berlalu
semua berakhir pada-Mu..

A Fine Frenzy – Lifesize

I listened this song on How I Met Your Mother, Final Episode Season 5. It was splendidly chosen. Such a calming voice & sweet melodies.

The song was a soundtrack for the best ending ever on amazing quotes : “Kids, you can ask the universe for signs for all you want..But ultimately we only see what we wanna see,…When we’re ready to see it..”

Well, the song is about, I think it’s like, we all want to be great in the eyes of someone. It’s about how people feel when they are in love, they have someone in the world who sees them in a different light. But, It’s more than just about love, it’s also about feeling good about yourself, knowing you are someone special. It’s just so fantastical, isn’t it?

“Larger than lifesize, wondersome
Great in the eyes of someone”
“Larger than lifesize, wondersome
Great in the eyes of someone”

Love Spit Love – Am I Wrong?

I’ve been listening for this song for quite a while for now. And, I really feel that I can relate closely with it. I think this song is a sad song, a bittersweet song, but it’s also a little optimistic. He’s letting go of something that needs to be let go of, it seems. And, he’s accepted that it’s over, it’s for the best. But, it’s still sad to have to leave it. Right? Am I close? or, Am I wrong?

I mean, it is about someone who is confused with life. This person is turning away from what they once believed in and trying to find new meaning in life. Well, It focuses on the uncertainty that we all feel sometimes.. The lyrics are quite powerful, such as : “Lay the blame on luck”, “You let life get in your way..”, etc. I think, We’ve ever done that in our life, don’t we..?? And, not to mention that the ballads melody is totally addictive..!!

When I hear this, my mind keep telling myself trying not to hold on to long, that can leave deep scars, that may not heal. Try to be strong for yourself, cause I am worth it. What I’ve been going through right now (whether career terms, love, etc), I know that these will all make sense some day..

Goodbye, lay the blame on luck..
Goodbye, Lay the blame on luck..
Goodbye, Lay the blame on luck..

Yep, Enjoy the song & video below.. Although, the song itself is way better from the video, but I hope you can enjoy it as well as me.. 🙂

The Fray – “Never Say Never”

The Fray - Never Say Never

What’s the key to The Fray’s success? Songs you can relate to. And, The Fray return with the second single “Never Say Never”. I’ve been enamored by the piano-ballads stylings of this song since the very first time I heard. “Never Say Never” is such a masterpiece that present on the soundtrack of the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen..

The song is about a direct love between two people who are “pulling apart and coming together again and again”..

And yet, The Fray described it perfectly..

I think “Never Say Never” as “a syrupy ballad” that is nothing short of astonishing. There’s falsetto towards the end and its romantic, wistful and full of understated grace. Backed by strings and a swelling rhythm section, it’s a polished and positive step forward for The Fray..

Yap, enjoy the song & video… 🙂

Goo Goo Dolls – Let Love In

Goo Goo Dolls Let Love In

John Rzeznik as we know,
or at least myself, know that he is a lyrical genius..
What he feels, what he has been through,

what he expresses, is what We have all been through..

The writing here is great,
with a lot of hopefulness
to counteract the underlying sadness..

Emotional and poetic, but at the same time,
it’s quite predictable and safe..
Just like when you felt, you know,
Everything means more now than words can explain..”
This is just my opinion..

Well, if you watch Serial TV – Chuck,
then you’ll know this video, see below.
The video was taken from Chuck & Sarah,

at Eps 1.04 Chuck vs The Wookie..
Hope you Enjoy it..

GreenDay – Wake Me Up When September Ends

The song makes me think of September 11…Cause, It says September…
Although the song originally was centered around Billie Joe Armstrongs’ personal tragedy, Samuel Bayer created his own personal vision..
His interpretation is brought to life with both power and restraint,
and is likely to provoke tears, a visceral human response to pain..

But, anyways that’s what the song is about..You know, just like “this is life“,
and I think they portray that extremely well through this song…

They decided to make music video (you can see below) about the Iraq war because of its had a big effect on everyone..
It is fleshed out by images of young romance and graphic battle scenes.
The end of the mini-film’s story is ambiguous,
and this ambiguity gives “Wake Me Up When September Ends” much of its power..

For me, this song is the best form Green Day, ever..!!
This songs makes me think about how I miss the past of my life,
and at the same time It makes me look at the future and wonder..
Besides, a lot of things happen in my life in September…
My birthday, my thesis seminar, and also my final test of my bachelor thesis, etc…
